Presidential Hissy Fit Threatens Federal Court

In what may be one of President’s Trump’s most alarming moves in his nearly 100-day circus, and one which mirrors some pretty bad dudes in history, the president apparently has his attack dogs at the ready to take down the 9th Circuit Court. This judicial body is one that delivered the Trump Administration two knock-out body blows. When Trump signed an Executive Order to ban funding to Sanctuary Cities, a Tuesday ruling from the court blocked that, accusing the administration of overstepping law enforcement. Earlier in the year, the court ruled against Trump’s order to ban travelers from certain Muslim countries. On Wednesday, Trump told conservative newspaper The Washington Times that the court was playing to liberals with purposefully vague rulings.

“I mean, the language on the ban, it reads so easy that a reasonably good student in the first grade will fully understand it. And they don’t even mention the words in their rejection on the ban.”

In the interview, President Trump said he was “absolutely” considering breaking up the 9th circuit. This sort of claim, in the footsteps of other tyrannical leaders like Der Fueher or Il Duce, is one of the hallmarks of achieving absolute power. Hitler, history tells us, did very much the same thing by suggesting that existing law be replaced by German common law. Removing courts from the system is one of the first steps. The 9th Circuit Court, representing Arizona, California, Alaska, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, is considered one of the most progressive in the country with 18 of its 25 judges appointed by Democratic presidents. The president says that’s why his opponents run to the 9th district, to get “semi-automatic” rulings. Trump’s idea already has Republican traction. GOP crony and Arizona Senator Jeff Flake already suggested the idea earlier this year. Trump lapdog Reince Priebus is on board as well.
