Apple wants iPhone 8 users to unlock their devices with their faces


Alongside the rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhone 8, including a narrow bezel, an OLED display-equipped model and wireless charging, perhaps the juiciest of them all has just surfaced. Bloomberg reports that Apple is working on 3D face recognition tech that it will use to let you unlock the next iPhone. The feature will be supported by a new 3D sensor, along with an iris scanner; as with the fingerprint-based Touch ID system, you’ll be able to use it to unlock your device, authenticate payments and log in to secure apps.
