Google activates the Pixel 2’s secret photo chip in new Android 8.1 beta


Shortly after announcing the the Pixel 2, Google surprised everyone by revealing the phone actually has a secret photography chip that had not yet been activated. Google just turned it on for the first time with the latest (and final) developer preview of Android 8.1 Called the Pixel Visual Core, it’s the first processor designed by Google, although it got some help from Intel.
